Sodalite is an opaque, navy blue semi-precious gemstone, usually with characteristic white streaks. It often used to substitute for its more expensive cousin, Lapis Lazuli. The stone is composed of  Sodium Aluminum Chlorine Silicate. The white streaks are calcite runners. It is formed in alkaline igneous and plutonic rocks with low silica content.

This stone is found in Canada, Brazil and South Africa.

Sodalite is a general communication and writing stone. It governs logic, ideas and truth and balances body energy levels via the thyroid, pituitary, lymph, and other glands. It helps balance the throat centre and is said to help with, insomnia, and benefit the neck, mouth, hearing, blood sugar, etc and to be cooling and drawing for infections, burns, sinus inflammations, and beneficial for high blood pressure, stress, as well as helpful with attention deficit disorder (ADD).
